Sara M Lugard Counselling

Anger is a perfectly normal human emotion and one that everybody will experience from time to time - and it’s important to recognise that this is a healthy natural reaction that occurs in response to a range of different scenarios.

In some situations, anger can be helpful to experience, such as when it serves as a motivational force to deliver positive change or as a safeguarding response when faced with aggression of some kind.

However, anger can also be very difficult to manage and control, and if we let it take charge it can often make our lives harder, so it’s important to recognise those feelings when they manifest so that they can be expressed and managed in a more positive way without having an adverse impact on our mental health.

Everyone will struggle to control their anger occasionally, but recognising when this is becoming problematic will help ensure that you can access the necessary support to help you regain mastery of your emotions so that they’re not detrimental to you or others around you.

How Can Counselling Help?

There are various ways in which you can learn to cope with your anger, including identifying your triggers, practising breathing exercises and doing meditation to help keep yourself calm when you feel those emotions start to rise from within.

One particularly good option for anger management, however, is counselling, where your therapist will provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space in which to explore your feelings and unique experiences so you can gain a deeper understanding of your anger.

Exploring your anger and its significance in both your past and your present will help you work out the most appropriate ways to express it, redirect it and manage it.

I specialise in humanistic Gestalt therapy, which helps you to focus on the present moment and explore it more fully, looking at how your past events impact you in the present and how they influence your emotions right now.

I offer counselling sessions for anger management to adults and young people over 18, either in person, online or over the phone. I’m based in the Winchester area but can provide remote counselling for anyone anywhere in the UK.

If you are currently having difficulties in any area of your life and feel as though you could benefit from some support, get in touch with me today to see how I can help.
