Counselling For Grief & Loss Near Winchester, Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford, Southampton & Romsey

Counselling and therapy for individuals in a safe, comfortable and private setting

As much as we all understand that death is a part of life, when we’re actually confronted with the reality of losing a loved one, it can be incredibly difficult to come to terms with.

The feelings of loss and grief can be overwhelming and it’s important to remember that it’s normal to experience a wide range of emotions during this difficult time, everything from anxiety and guilt to anger, loneliness and sadness.

There is no right or wrong way to feel and grief hits us all in different ways, so make sure you don’t give yourself a hard time about whatever it is that you’re feeling right now.

If you’re struggling under the weight of your emotions, however, there are many avenues of support you can seek out and grief counselling can be particularly beneficial, helping you to work through your feelings and come to terms with what’s happened.

While some people may find that speaking to friends and family is an effective way of dealing with bereavement, others may find it more helpful to speak to someone they don’t know, someone with experience of helping people deal with loss.

There are five stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance - and grief counsellors are specifically trained to help you process your feelings, working your way through each of these stages to help you move on.

Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

How can Grief Counselling Help?

Knowing what the five stages of grief are can be useful, but it’s important to remember that dealing with loss will not be a linear or straightforward process.

You may experience these different stages at different times and they may not take place in order. You may also not experience all of them and you may also find that you have different experiences when dealing with different bereavements.

Every grief journey is unique and it can be very isolating, but counselling can give you a safe and supportive space, free from judgement, where you can express your pain and normalise it. Your therapist will help you gain a deeper understanding of these emotions and help you reduce any distress you might be feeling.

As a counsellor, I specialise in humanistic Gestalt therapy, which helps you to focus on the present moment and explore it more fully, looking at how your past events impact you in the present and how they influence your emotions right now.

I offer counselling sessions for grief, loss and bereavement to adults and young people over 18, either in person, online or over the phone. I’m based in the Winchester area but can provide remote counselling anywhere in the UK.

If you are currently having difficulties in any area of your life and feel as though you could benefit from some support, get in touch with me today to see how I can help.
